MED-EL cochlear implants are powerful diagnostic tools. In cases where the status of the auditory nerve is unclear, either due to malformations or the presence of a tumor, we can learn a lot by stimulating the auditory system and recording an eABR. To utilize this diagnostic potential, patients do not have to be implanted with a CI. The Auditory Nerve Test System (ANTS) provides a transient-use electrode to help assess the status of the auditory nerve and help doctors select the best implant solution for a patient.
