3D Cochlea Reconstruction

Find optimal placement for implant or screws by setting a custom threshold and creating a heatmap of bone to see distance to dura or to the air cells.

Virtual Trajectory Planning

With OTOPLAN, you can easily visualize how any given surgical trajectory would affect anatomical structures. You simply set the target point and then pivot the trajectory in any direction. This can be helpful for planning
individualized surgical access to the cochlea for each patient or for visualizing optimal in-plane angle for electrode insertion into the cochlea. It can also be useful for other otological procedures, such as planning surgical access for middle ear surgery.

Optimal Cochlear View

By freely rotating all imaging planes, OTOPLAN lets you get an ideal oblique view of the cochlea. In this view, you can easily measure cochlear parameters in seconds. OTOPLAN instantly calculates detailed cochlear length and tonotopic frequency. AI assistance combines 3D data with user input to help ensure accurate and consistent measurement of cochlear parameters.

Electrode Visualization Audiogram

OTOPLAN gives you the power to take cochlear implant surgical planning to a whole new level. With the enhanced electrode visualization tool, you can combine the anatomical and audiological information in one intuitive view. You can easily add pre-op and post-op audiogram data to a patient record and select desired cross-over frequencies for patients with residual hearing.

Even better, with OTOPLAN you can easily visualize how each electrode can fit each individual cochlea. Compare different electrode arrays and see detailed data for each individual electrode contact, including predicted angular insertion depth and tonotopic center frequency.

Individualized Electrode Arrays

When it comes to electrode arrays, one size doesn’t fit all. In fact, there’s a wider range of variation in cochlear duct lengths than shoe sizes. That’s why we designed our FLEX Series arrays to provide the optimal length for the full range of cochlear anatomies.

With five FLEX arrays available in sizes between 20–31.5 mm, you can achieve complete cochlear coverage and full electrode insertion for each patient. And with OTOPLAN, you can easily see how each one of these electrodes fit inside the individual cochlea with respect to depth and covered frequency.

This is a huge advantage that we can individualize the choice of these electrode lengths. We know there’s a huge variation in sizes from cochlear lengths. The organ of Corti, the cochlear duct length varies from 25– 36 millimeters, really this is a 50% change, from one patient to another patient. —Prof. Paul van de Heyning

Post-Op Analysis

OTOPLAN enhances the entire clinical workflow, including post-operative analysis and reporting. With post-operative imaging, you can easily confirm electrode insertion status and automatically generate detailed patient reports. OTOPLAN lets you automatically generate a pdf or PowerPoint report of a patient’s data, including post-operative analysis.

Automatic Contact Identification

The latest version of OTOPLAN features a powerful new tool: Automatic Contact Detection. Now, you can quickly identify the real post-operative angular insertion depth and tonotopic location of each individual
electrode contact with just a few clicks. This real electrode location data can be easily exported to MAESTRO software to enable Anatomy-Based Fitting.

Anatomy-Based Fitting

Our philosophy has always been to provide a closer match to natural hearing. Our unique full-length electrode arrays help enable more accurate pitch-place stimulation of the natural tonotopic map of the cochlea. Our unique FineHearing sound coding is designed to mimic natural rate coding in the second turn of the cochlea.

Now, with OTOPLAN and our MAESTRO 9.0 fitting software, we are excited to be reaching closer to natural hearing than ever before with cochlear implants. Our default FineHearing frequency allocation is designed to follow the natural tonotopic map of the cochlea. However, we know that one size does not fit all. This is why we are always striving to provide a closer match for each individual patient.

With our new Anatomy Based Fitting tools, you can easily fine-tune the frequency map to be closer to the natural map for each individual cochlea. By combining detailed imaging data from OTOPLAN with MAESTRO 9.0, you can now quickly assign center frequencies based on the actual anatomical location of each electrode contact.
