NemuStim and ECE50

Functional Check of Vocal Folds via Neuromuscular Stimulation

The NemuStim stimulation device with the ECE50 endoscopic cap electrode serves to assess the motility of the vocal folds using electrical stimulation. This innovative procedure is already being utilized in leading ENT clinics and delivers quick results about unilateral and bilateral vocal fold motility disorders. It can be an outpatient treatment or performed in the operating room.

The diagnostic is gentle yet efficient: The endoscopic cap electrode is placed on a compatible video endoscope and inserted into the mouth without requiring additional invasive procedures.

 Quick and Efficient

Electric neuromuscular stimulation with NemuStim delivers quick results to support diagnostics.

 Versatile and Convenient

NemuStim can be used in both inpatient and outpatient settings and offers comprehensive compatibility.

NemuStim

Neuromuscular Stimulation Device

NemuStim expands the diagnostic possibilities with peripheral neuromuscular electrostimulation. The compact, portable device for stimulation in the face and neck area has no age restriction.*

The stimulator supports the diagnostics thanks to various modes and comprehensive parameter settings options. NemuStim can be used to diagnose vocal fold motility disorders when used in combination with ECE50 endoscopic cap electrode.

Advantages of NemuStim at a Glance

  • Small and handheld: Size of a smartphone
  • Up to 5 hours of continuous battery life in stimulation mode
  • Comprehensive individual parameter settings
  • Fast adjustment of parameters during stimulation using a rotary knob
  • Acoustic feedback during stimulation
  • Single-pulse and burst modes
  • Diagnostics of vocal fold motility disorders with ECE50

"Screening using NemuStim and ECE50, particularly with regard to joint mobility and neuromuscular innervation of the sole laryngeal abductor muscle (PCA), can help expedite treatment decisions."

Prof. Dr. Andreas Müller
ENT Surgeon, Gera, Germany

ECE50

Endoscopic Cap Electrode

The sterile ECE50 supports diagnosis of vocal fold motility disorders in adults via neuromuscular electrostimulation of the intrinsic larynx muscles. Stimulation can be performed under general anesthesia or sedation. Thanks to the atraumatic silicon and flexible design, ECE50 can easily be used during transoral endoscopy.

The electrode is flexible and can be adjusted individually to the patient’s anatomy. It is suitable for inpatient or outpatient use. Furthermore, ECE50 is compatible with Ø 5.9 mm video endoscopes (with or without working channel), as well as with the handheld NemuStim or other stimulators that cover the parameter range of ECE50.

Advantages of ECE50 at a Glance

  • Functional check of the opening and closing muscles of the vocal folds
  • Differential diagnosis of aberrant innervation
  • Additional diagnostic method complementing laryngeal electromyography (LEMG)
  • Flexible design can be adjusted to individual patient anatomy
  • Inpatient or outpatient use

"Endoscopic electrical stimulation of laryngeal muscles expands diagnostic possibilities beyond (conventional) LEMG. The ECE50 thus complements functional assessment to therapeutic decision-making in vocal fold motility disorders."

PD Dr. Matthias Leonhard
ENT Surgeon, Vienna, Austria
